Season
November 27,
1921 Dayton
Triangles 0 Attendance: 3,500 The
dense fog covered the muddy field for the game between the Buffalo
All-Americans and the Dayton Triangles. The first drive of the game
resulted in the All-Americans making it to midfield before having to punt.
The next series for each team also resulted in punts. On the subsequent
drive, “Ockie” Anderson was able to cross the goal line on a 25 yard
run. The thick mud made it difficult for either team to put together an offensive drive. The All-Americans controlled the first half of the game, but the Triangles controlled the second half; partly due to two fumbles of punts by “Tommy” Hughitt. Both fumbles were recovered by Dayton. Dayton almost scored on the final play of the game. Buffalo punted to Dayton’s Bacon, who ran the ball back to the Buffalo 5 yard line. Anderson was able to bring him down short of the score to save the victory for the All-Americans.
